Try Google Scholar for academic articles. Many full-text articles are available. If the article in not available online, you can look for it in one of the databases.

See below for articles I found on Google Scholar on globalization and health, especially globalization and diabetes.

Here are some very useful links to a site called Globalization 101. These links lead to short lessons on the various topics. This site has a very good list of links to globalization related sites.

Notes for your assignments

Two summary essay

Hand in the following in a manila folder with your name and class on the front:
  • final essay
  • one edited draft
  • two source articles
  • annotations for each article

Remember:

  • Intro = topic, controversy, transition to thesis, thesis. In most cases, do not mention authors in intro.
  • Summaries must start with bibliographic sentence + author's thesis in your words (not quoted).
  • Summaries must be objective and reasonably complete without going into detail, usually two paragraphs.
  • Discussion paragraphs (2) must contrast the authors on a specific issue or point.

Important: The contrast must bring out your views without using such statements as "I believe" or "I agree with X."

  • Copy the form into Word to complete it.
  • Begin with a paragraph describing globalization in your words.
  • A second paragraph should briefly describe your topic and it's relationship to globalization.
  • Include all the information requested on the sheet. Format the information in Word so that it is easy to read. If you cannot find an article or book directly on your topic, you may use a source relevant to globalization in general or to your topic. For example, if you are researching globalization and diabeties in India, and you cannot find a book or an article on this topic, you may use a book or article on globalization or diabeties or India.
