The purpose of the research proposal is to show your familiarity with your topic and to outline a viable research project based on a specific and interesting research question.
Important: Do not answer the research question. The proposal should end with the research question
Introduction:
Announce the topic, establish its significance and your interest in the topic
Body:
- Establish the situation/describe the issue
- Use relevant statistics
- Provide history/background of the situation
- Describe the controversy over the issue/different points of view
- Research question
- Direction of your research
- What research you will do to answer your research question
You must have at least five sources integrated into your proposal, by quotation and paraphrase. Sources must have proper in-text citationPaper must have proper APA reference page.
Quotation
- Use key phrase quotes frequently.
- Use short quotation infrequently to make important points. Quote striking and dramatic language where possible.
- All quotes must be introduced.
The proposal must have a title page, running header, title on page 2, in-text citations, and references.
