the SubtopicsThis is a featured page

Notice that the subtopics divide the research section into logical parts.

The first subtopic should provide background, history or context for the research question. It generally explains how and why the situation has developed as it has. It expands upon the introduction. The purpose of this section is to provide the reader with background information, enough for the reader to understand the problem.

Each section begins with a subtitle. The subtitle is centered; no lines are skipped. The subtitle should be identical to the subtopic that is listed in the plan of the essay. The only difference is that the subtitle is capitalized like a title, in other words, the first word of the title and the first word of the subtitle and all significant words begin with upper-case letters.

The last subtopic is the conclusion. You can use the research question or the answer to the research question for the subtopic. In the conclusion you must answer the research question. You explain your opinion of the matter. However, do not forget to quote and paraphrase your sources. As in your Iran paper, the way that you quote and paraphrase your sources should show the reader whom you agree with and whom you disagree with.
